Calendar Girl August: Alexandra Stan

We're determined to get all our calendar girls posted by the end of the year so it's on to August and Alexandra Stan.

Frankly, we had no idea who Miss Stan was but a younger young lady pointed out to us that she was the singer of the annoying song Mr Saxobeat, with its dreadful synthesised saxophone sound.  Adolphe Sax (one of the ten apocryphal famous Belgians) would be spinning in his grave, no doubt.

Whatever, the really rather luscious Alexandra is Romanian and was born in Constanta the oldest city in Romania.  Founded in 600BC as a Greek colony there is also a legend that has it founded by Aeëtes, the King of Colchis who lost the Golden Fleece to Jason.

Passes the Agent Triple P "does she look good in a vest?" test

Alexandra is 23 years old but doesn't appear to be building on the success of Mr Saxobeat (probably just as well).  Never mind, she is very easy on the eye.

Agent Triple P visited Romania for the first time this year and was very impressed with the number of very attractive local women.  Well worth a visit in the summer!

Alexandra seems happy to pose in skimpy clothing for photographers, to excellent effect, so we'll forgive her the annoying song.

Amii Stewart: Record Covers

Knock on Wood 1979

American born Amii Stewart first found fame working in London with British producer Barry Leng and had several big hits, including Knock on Wood which charted in 1979.  Triple P was very taken with her from the moment he saw this striking record cover and immediately bought her first album.  

We had at least one poster of her up on our wall at college.  In our third year we had a room in North Oxford and here is a photo of it with our poster of Amii, centre bottom between the door and our bookcase.

She was regarded as a slightly B grade disco diva in the Donna Summer mould but Triple P enjoyed some of her work a great deal and she had a better voice than much of her material showcased..  Her career never really took off but she was, nonetheless, a fantastically beautiful girl and we recall buying at least one record of hers (above) purely on the basis of the cover photo.  By this time she had moved to Italy where they are quite happy to gratuitously exploit women's looks without anyone objecting.

Intense May 2012

Amii is still making records and still looking sensational.  Over 30 years after Knock on Wood she can still pose, most effectively, wearing very little for her latest CD cover.

Calendar Girl May: Rachel Stevens

FHM love pop poppet Rachel Stevens so it is no surprise to find her in this year's calendar as well as last year's.  Our entry last year told you everything you need to know about the London lovely.

Still, this gives us an excuse to post a couple more pictures of her.  As we just got her entry in in may we are intending to post June's calendar girl rather earlier in the month.

This year Rachel has revealed that she is back in the studio recording her third solo album.  Excellent!

Cheryl Cole in Afghanistan

Former UK national treasure, and now somewhat fallen angel, Cheryl Cole has been in Afghanistan cheering up the troops in a bid to become the new "forces sweetheart".  This will no doubt severely, annoy busty Welsh warbler Katherine Jenkins whose own trip to Afghanistan some time ago propelled her into that position.

Unlike Katherine, who seemed to confine herself to having tea with the troops, Cheryl has been firing weapons, taking part in a mock raid and even meeting with the local Afghan leaders.

Coffee, tea or me, pet?

On her way out she served delighted troops with their meal, perhaps practising for an alternative career if it all goes horribly wrong (again). 

Most people on the internet are saying that it is yet another publicity stunt to get her back into the public's favour and we are sure that her agent highlighted the opportunities.  Nevertheless, Helmand province is a very dangerous place and she deserves credit for going out there.  Well done Cheryl!

Cheryl Cole 2012 calendar

Cheryl has been publicising her new calendar and whilst we are not that taken with most of the pictures we think that this image, for September, is very fine indeed.

We haven't been able to identify the photographer (there were two for the calendar we think) but it was shot in the South of France.  This image, particularly as regards the lighting and make-up,  has a lot of that old Patrick Lichfield Unipart calendar vibe from the late seventies and early eighties.

Agent DVD is off to the South of France imminently so perhaps he might be inspired to take some similar photographs!

Cheryl Cole back in Britain

Cheryl sinks her US career with the worst look of the year

Poor Cheryl (who used to live a few streets away from Agent Triple P) has been unceremoniously kicked out of the new American X-Factor before it has even begun.  Well, not according to "sources close to the singer" who claim that she was just homesick for the rolling hills of Surrey (probably not for her council estate in Noocassle).  I suppose "homesick" is equivalent to saying that you are leaving a job to "pursue other interests".  A lot of publicists and agents are no doubt slaving away at present for a mutually acceptable form of words (which probably means that we will never know if the real reason for her departure was really the fact that Americans wouldn't be able to understand her Geordie accent (whcih actually isn't that thick).

X Factor in the UK wants her back, of course, but there are rumours that she is not happy with Simon Cowell.  Hmm, Simon Cowell takes someone on and then drops them like a hot potato when their popularity dips a little bit.  It all sounds very familiar, especially to most of the previous X Factor winners.

The recently published  Lonely Planet guide to the UK said that we were obsessed with celebrity news.  Surely not?

Reaction in the UK has shown an upsurge of support for America as a result, with the comments sections of internet news services full of people praising the Americans for their sound judgement.  Not since President Bush called the French "cheese eating surrender monkeys" has the US been so popular over here.

Will she be welcomed back to Britain or has showing her true little miss diva side and trying to abandon this green and pleasant land meant that the the position of the nation's sweetheart is now vacant? 

Maybe she could get a job as a lavatory assistant in a Guildford nightclub?

Agent Triple P's advice to Cheryl would be to reconsider Playboy's offer!

Calendar Girl May 2011: Frankie Sandford

This month's calendar girl is singer/songwriter (the latter meaning, we suspect, that she scribbles the odd line of a lyric rather than actually composing any music) Frankie Sandford who was, rather surprisingly to Triple P, 23rd on FHM's sexiest women in the world this year.  22 Year old Frankie was born in Upminster; really only famous for being one end of the District underground line.

Sandford, an Essex stage school kid,  first became famous a tthe age of thirteen after joining pre and early teen boy/girl group S Club Juniors who were chosen via a reality TV show. 

Thank heaven for little girls...

Unexpectedly successful (they were supposed to be a supporting group for S Club for just one concert), the group had a number of hits and appeared in their own TV series.

...for little girls get bigger every day!

Sandford was one of the most prominent singers in the eight person group (hence their later name, S Club 8) which folded in early 2004.

In 2007 Sandford successfully auditioned to join girl band The Saturdays (along with former S Club Juniors bandmate Rochelle Wiseman).

The Saturdays have been very popular as well, with eight top ten singles and three top ten albums and are still going strong.

Sandford has been the member of the group who has atrracted the most publicity mostly through going out with  a member of British boy band McFly.

Having broken up with him she now has a professional footballer boyfriend although she denies she is a WAG (sorry, you are!).  Her haircut is amost as famous as she is and has been much copied.

Lately she has been getting unwelcome publicity (is there such a thing?) by having photographers taking pictures of parts of her anatomy she would rather they didn't as she struggles in and out of cars at rent a celeb events.

Perhaps you should just choose clothes that are designed to actually cover you up if you don't like it, Frankie?
