Triple P back in action...

The view from our window at sunrise

After a short but enjoyable trip to Istanbul last week Triple P is off for ten days in the Americas: starting with Mexico City, a place he has been to a number of times.   Later we are off to a couple of cities (and one country) where we haven't been before, which is always interesting.  More on them another time.  Later in the month we are off to the Middle East again.

Istanbul is always a pleasure and this time we managed, for the first time to get into the Grand Bazaar; taking afternoon tea with two delightful young Turkish ladies in a very authentic little square in a corner of the maze of 1,200 little shops and 58 streets that makes up this huge covered market.

Triple P takes a little Turkish tea

Yet another report has been published this week highlighting the health benefits of tea.  It now seems as if as little as three cups a day reduces the risk of cardiac problems significantly.  This new study which has looked at all the other studies on the subject also concludes that it doesn't matter if the tea is green or black or whether it has milk in it or not.  Excellent news for Triple P.  However he is resigned to the fact that a good cup of tea will be almost impossible to obtain where he is going for the next ten days.

We enjoyed the Turkish food as usual and drank some very good Turkish white wine.  We did not buy anything in the Grand Bazaar, however, as we have always hated markets of any kind.  We much prefer proper shops and have never been able to get over the strange feeling that everyone who sells from a market stall is a criminal.

Sadly, our particular friend B could not make it to Turkey this time but it looks like we may well be going back in the new year.
